A non-refundable deposit (service retainer) is required to reserve your portrait session and will be credited toward your total balance. $250 for portrait sessions and $500 for weddings and events. This reserves the specified date and time just for you and prohibits any other sessions from being scheduled at the same time. Dates may be tentatively held but are confirmed on a first-paid basis. Remaining balance (plus applicable tax) is due on the day of your session or event. In the event of a cancellation or reschedule, your deposit becomes a "studio credit" and may be used toward a future session.
Prepay for lessons here! If this is a gift, please specify recipient's name below and indicate alternate shipping address to send gift certificate to.
Classes and Workshop Schedule: no upcoming courses scheduled at this time
Mentoring Sessions are a great opportunity to observe and assist during an actual photo shoot. Several session types are available: family portraits, seniors, editorial fashion, and newborn photography. $125/session
Private Lessons differ from mentoring sessions as they are hands-on, customized learning packages, designed to specifically focus on the areas you would like to develop most. The quality of improvement my clients see after only one lesson is tremendous - and it's always fun! Lessons are taught at the studio for $75/hour and include trial installs of Photoshop Elements (portrait editing software). Clients need only to bring their laptop and DSLR camera.
Your deposit payment is confirmation that you have read and agree to the terms above.
Navigating the world of digital photography can be quite daunting, due to ever-changing technology, software, editing tools, equipment and image effects. However, at the heart of it, photography is an art form, and just as much beauty and character can be captured by a point-and-shoot camera as a professional lens. With the right balance of technical and composition know-how, artistry, and post-production "magic sprinkles", you can make any image a true stand-out.
Not generally covered (though we can review image first to determine if restoration is possible):
Upon receipt receipt of payment, you will be contacted to schedule your session(s) and get specific information about the type of photography or editing tricks you are most interested in learning. If this is a gift to another, please note name above, and we will wait to contact you until recipient has received gift and is ready to schedule.
No problem! Send us any image electronically (scanned at the highest resolution possible) and we'll work our magic to bring it back to life, up-to-date, and into vogue.
Submitting an Inquiry
If you have questions, a date in mind, or are ready to schedule your photo session, please submit your requests here: General Photography Session or Wedding or Event Session. I will try my best to respond within two business days. If you have not received a response in a timely manner, please check your junk mail in case my message got redirected or give me a call at (425) 213-8048.
Mentoring and Lessons
If you would like to go behind the lens and learn the art of photography, composition, posing subjects, lighting or photo editing, please refer to the Mentoring section above for class schedules, workshops, on-location opportunities and private lessons.
Gift Certificates and Pre-paid Sessions
Gifts that we can hold in our hands and treasure, are made even better when amazing experiences have accompanied them. Through photography, it is easy to have both. Surprise your folks on their anniversary with a gift from the kids of a family portrait session at their favorite park. Chip into the Portrait Piggy Bank (above) or buy a gift certificate instead of searching for a wedding gift. Buy your valentine a boudoir session and let me transform her into the glamorous, gorgeous vixen that she is. Purchase lessons for a budding amateur. The gifting possibilities are endless!
Scheduling Your Session
Our home-based studio is located in lovely Snoqualmie Ridge, WA. Please refer to the session types and hours of availability, and submit an inquiry to coordinate the best date and time:
Once you have determined a date, time, and location with me, secure it by paying your deposit either online (above) or mailing a check. More information about this non-refundable service retainer can be found in the Deposit and Terms detailed above. Dates may be tentatively held but are not considered "confirmed" until deposit payment has been received. Studio sessions and events are booked on first-paid basis.
Now that your date is selected and deposit paid, it's time to begin planning appropriately for the type of session you have scheduled. Below is a helpful guide of what to take into consideration when readying for your shoot:
Please take a look through my Wedding Planning page for all of your planning needs, package options, and inquiries.
Pin-up and Glamour
I love these sessions because I a move light and shadow in such a way that emphasizes your best features, while using my airbrush in post-production to create breathtaking, dreamy images (that hide any imperfections). Bring a few fun outfits but no more than three, as I take a fair number of images that focus more on what you're not wearing. Now, to be clear, this is NOT NUDE photography. The allure of boudoir is what is implied, the mystery, the imagination and the playful nature behind each portrait. Regardless, the studio is private and I am the only person you will be working with. A few key to-do's: shave or wax everything you don't want to see up close, bring one flesh-toned or white bra and matching panties, bring your hottest heels, paint your toenails a classic color (or use clear polish), bring Visine if you're prone to bloodshot eyes, and don't attempt self-tanner the night before. If you're in a relationship, bring one sentimental piece from their wardrobe (ie, baseball hat/glove, jersey, workshirt/tie, uniform, etc). I also have a bunch of extra accessories in my studio, if needed. Lastly, pass on consuming alcohol or salty foods 24 hours prior (puffiness), drink lots of water in the morning, and eat at least one high-protein food, banana, or healthy shake before arriving.
Modeling and Editorial
Similar to boudoir prep (shave/wax, mani/pedi, eyedrops, no salt, no alcohol) with emphasis on flawless makeup and styled hair (which we can touch up throughout the shoot). Bring a few unique pieces of clothing and accessories in color tones that complement your hair/skin best. If you have specific ideas or looks you'd like to try, please send them to me in advance (or links to pictures online), so I can have the right backdrops and lighting set up prepared. If you are new to modeling, I will happily help coach you with posing technique, suggest tips/tricks/critiques, and provide resources to help you move forward in the industry.
We will shoot a mix of indoor and outdoor images, so it's best to dress appropriately for both. Bring three outfits in mostly solid colors (no prints, stripes, logos or busy patterns), minimal accessories, something nice, something casual, and something uniquely you. Let me know in advance if you have any specific looks or ideas you'd like to try. Feel free to bring personal items, sports gear, instruments, your dog, letterman's jacket, pom poms, etc. If you will be under 18 at the time of your session, you will need to bring a signed release form from your parent or guardian (we provide).
Almost all of these sessions are done outdoors, due to the variety of backgrounds, optimal lighting, and room to run and play. Attire choices should best complement the season and natural colors, and family members' clothes should not compete against each other (keep within same color family, if possible). Avoid solid black or white shirts, and those with patterns, prints or logos. Also, stay away from colors that are too light (pale pink, light blue, light cream). I've found that children tend to do better in the morning, so schedule before lunch if you have little ones. Bring treats for pets, extra bottles/snacks for babies, and playful energy, as I like to get just as many pictures of families interacting as I do posed/classic ones.
These are taken in-studio only, in a very quiet environment, and mostly under natural lighting. I keep the room very warm since we're undressing/redressing them and often taking pics with just their diapers on (AND off). Please bring extra bottles so that we can feed as we go and keep baby happy, full, and a little on the drowsy side. I suggest bringing newborns in before their third week when the "baby acne" starts showing up because they're also easier to pose and reposition. I prefer a parent work alongside me throughout the shoot to keep baby calm and happy, and provide an extra set of delicate hands when moving them around. These sessions take the longest (about 2 hours) since we're working around baby's mood schedule. :)
All Other Portraits (headshots, maternity, bands, engagements, etc)
These are done either in-studio or on-location. I like to allow my clients to take the creative reigns, encourage different ideas, and I welcome pages torn from magazines or links to online images (as examples). It is important to me that the total experience is a collaborative one (that it is fun!) and that the images turn out even better than expected.
Day of Session
The day has arrived - teeth are flossed, clothes are pressed, nails are clean, you're ready for your close-up! Upon arrival to the studio or location of shoot, Genevieve will greet you, chat about expectations, confirm details of the package you have chosen, review the release details with you, and collect any remaining balance for the session you have selected. As soon as the paperwork is complete (5 minutes), the fun begins!
Within 7-10 Business Days
Your personalized online gallery (examples here) and slideshow will be ready for you to view (with the exception of weddings and events, which take 14-21 days). All proofs are fully-retouched, watermarked, and ready to share via email or online post. Depending on the package you've selected, you can either download original files directly from the gallery, or click on the images you like and order prints directly from the site. Print and Photo Book orders that are shipped UPS Ground, usually take an additional 5-7 days to arrive, once your selections have been made and orders placed.
